Pedestrian killed after being Struck by two vehicles on 7700 Southwest Freeway
Houston, Texas (March 13, 2017) – According to Houston Police Department, a male pedestrian was killed early Sunday morning in a fatal pedestrian crash on the 7700 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59).
The incident took place at about 1 a.m. Sunday, March 12.
According to the HPD, a male party was struck by a white Honda 4Runner as he tried to cross the mainlanes of Southwest Freeway. Reportedly, a tow truck driver behind the wheel a white Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck heading north watched the entire incident. The wrecker driver exited the highway and re-entered the southbound lanes and as he neared the crash site, unintentionally hit the victim.
Both drivers stopped at the scene. They were interviewed and released.
The name of the victim was withheld pending positive identification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
