1 Injured in Kilgore Car Accident at Highway 31 and FM 3053 Thursday morning

Kilgore, Texas (August 16, 2019) – A person was hospitalized Thursday morning after a traffic collision involving two vehicles near Kilgore, authorities said.

The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 31 and FM 3053 Thursday, August 15.

According to the authorities, a pickup truck was turning onto Highway 31 from FM 3053 when it allegedly failed to yield the right of way. An SUV heading westbound on Highway 31 entered the highway and hit the truck broadside.

The SUV driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. The name and condition of the patient at this time were not disclosed.

The occupants of the pickup were uninjured in the accident.

Highway 31 was closed as the investigation and cleanup took place. As of 10:12 a.m. the highway had been reopened in both directions.

No further details were immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
