1 Injured in Semi-Truck Accident on U.S. 287 in Clay County

One Airlifted after Clay County Crash on U.S. 287 near Hapgood Road

Clay County, Texas (February 28, 2023) – One person was seriously injured in a Tuesday morning traffic crash in Clay County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The wreck happened at about 7:00 a.m. on U.S. 287 near Hapgood Road.

DPS said a semi-truck was leaving the brick plant to enter southbound traffic when the driver failed to yield the right of way.

A Ford pickup heading northbound on U.S. 287 was unable to make an evasive maneuver and rear-ended rear the semi-truck.

The driver of the pickup sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

The semi-driver did not suffer any injuries.

No other information was provided.
