Travis County, Texas (February 16, 2021) – One person was killed, and another was critically injured Tuesday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Travis County, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 6:20 a.m., February 15, in the 9100 block of Highway 183 near FM 973 and McKenzie Road.

Authorities said a Volkswagen was traveling northbound on the highway when it was rear-ended by a Ford pickup truck towing a trailer.

The Ford pickup and trailer then crashed into the nearby San Francisco Javier Catholic Church.

The Volkswagen driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Kia driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The two people in the Ford were uninjured in the crash.

No one was in the church at the time of the crash.

The crash closed a portion of Highway 183.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation
