1 Killed, 1 Injured in Head-On Crash on Hwy 36 near Cross Plains

One Killed and One Injured in Cross Plains Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 36

Cross Plains, Texas (October 19, 2021) – One person was killed, and another was injured Monday morning in a fiery head-on crash, three miles east of Cross Plains, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 7:20 a.m., October 18, on Highway 36.

Authorities said a Ford F-150 and an Acura SUV were involved in a head-on collision.

Bobby Schroedter was driving past the crash scene when he stopped and pulled the Ford driver from the burning vehicle. The victim was airlifted to the hospital in unknown condition.

The Acura driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.

The crash closed both directions of the highway for several hours.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
