Man Killed in Wharton Crash on US 59 near Exit 961

Wharton, Texas (January 17, 2019) – A man was killed and another hospitalized after a fiery two-vehicle collision on Wednesday afternoon near Wharton, according to a report by the Wharton police.
The crash took place at about noon on Wednesday, January 16 on US 59 near Exit 961.
According to the police, a small four-door Kia sedan was traveling south on US 59 when it swerved into the northbound lanes and collided with an 18-wheeler.
The driver of the sedan was killed in the crash. The other driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Oakbend Medical Center for treatment.
No details were provided on the identities of the parties involved.
The Wharton Police Department is working to determine the cause of the wreck.
