1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash on FM 973 in East Austin

One Killed and One Seriously Injured in East Austin Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 973

Austin, Texas (April 24, 2022) – One person was killed, and another was seriously injured Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash in East Austin, according to officials.

The fatal crash happened around 6:25 a.m., in the 2400-4537 block of North FM 973 Road, between FM 969 and Tesla Road.

Officials said two vehicles were involved in the crash.

One person was pinned in their vehicle and had to be extricated. CPR was performed on a second patient.

The person who was pinned was taken to South Austin Medical Center with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

The person who was being done CPR was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.

The crash closed FM 973 Road between FM 969 and Tesla Road.

Motorists were urged to seek alternate routes.

The crash remains under investigation.
