Johnson County, Texas (January 2, 2021) – One person was killed, and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash on New Year’s Eve in Johnson County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 4:00 p.m., December 31, on FM 2280, just south of FM 917, north of Keene.

DPS said an SUV was traveling southbound on the highway when it crossed into the oncoming lanes and hit a northbound pickup truck.

The impact pushed both vehicles into opposite sides of the ditch.

The pickup driver, a 70-year-old man from Arlington, was taken to a local hospital with major injuries, where he later died. His name has not been released. His passenger, a 67-year-old Arlington woman, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Both victims were relatives.

The SUV driver, a 40-year-old Cleburne woman, was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The crash closed all lanes of FM 2280.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
