1 Killed in Oil Tanker Crash on US 259 in Rusk County

One Killed in Rusk County Oil Tanker Crash on US 259 at FM 850

Rusk County, Texas (March 24, 2023) – One person was killed Thursday morning in a crash involving an oil tanker in Rusk County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on March 23, at the intersection of US 259 and FM 850.

DPS said an oil tanker was traveling southbound on US 259, and a truck was traveling eastbound on FM 850.

The truck did not stop at the sign and crashed into the back of the oil tanker.

The truck then spun and came to a stop in the grass.

The truck driver was killed in the crash. Their identity has not been released.

The driver of the oil tanker was taken to a Tyler hospital as a precautionary measure.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
