Pilot Killed in Galveston County Plane Crash near South Railroad and Mike Avenue

Hitchcock, Texas (December 9, 2020) – A pilot was killed in a plane crash Tuesday afternoon in a residential area of Galveston County, according to authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 2:00 p.m., December 8, near the intersection of South Railroad and Mike Avenue.

FAA said maintenance work was being performed on an unoccupied single-engine plane at Scholes International Airport in Galveston when it began moving forward and the pilot jumped in the plane.

The aircraft rolled over chocks and became airborne. It crashed in a residential area near railroad tracks.

The pilot was killed in the crash.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
