10-Year-Old Boy Injured in Lufkin Pedestrian Accident on Chestnut Street

Lufkin, Texas (May 10, 2021) – A 10-year-old boy was hit by a car Sunday morning in Lufkin, according to the police.

The accident occurred around 8:55 a.m., May 9, in the 600 block of Chestnut Street.

Police said the boy had snuck out of his nearby home to buy his mom a Mother’s Day gift at Dollar General in Chestnut Village. As he was crossing the street to go home after purchasing a card and a box of candy, he was struck by a northbound Chevy Malibu.

The boy was taken to a local hospital with a broken leg.

An investigation is underway.
