10-Year-Old Killed in Dallas Two-Vehicle Crash on Missouri Avenue at Maryland Avenue

Dallas, Texas (December 16, 2020) – A 10-year-old was killed Monday morning in a DUI crash in Dallas, according to police.

The deadly crash occurred around 7:20 a.m., December 14, in the 2500 block of Missouri Avenue at the intersection with Maryland Avenue.

Police said a 47-year-old man was driving a blue 2013 Mazda sedan northbound on Maryland Avenue when he ran a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into the passenger side of a 2020 gray four-door Nissan Sentra that was traveling eastbound on Missouri Avenue.

The sedan continued northbound where it struck a fence and backed into another fence.

The sedan driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The three children in the Nissan ages, 10, 11, and 13, were taken to Children’s Hospital for treatment. The 10-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The condition of the Nissan’s driver was not disclosed.

Officers said the sedan driver was being investigated for intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault.

The police are investigating the crash.

In Texas, a driver is legally intoxicated after consuming alcohol if their blood alcohol content (BAC) is .08% or higher. A driver is also considered intoxicated if they don’t have the normal use of their mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol.
