13-Year-Old Boy Killed in Bus Crash with Train on Cream Level Road in Athens

Boy Killed, Girl Critical after Athens Train Accident on Cream Level Road

Athens, Texas (January 26, 2019) – A 13-year-old boy was killed and a 9-year-old girl critically injured when a school bus collided with a train in Athens, Henderson County on Friday evening, according to the authorities.
The wreck took place at about 4 p.m. January 25 on the railroad crossing at Cream Level Road.
Authorities said the bus driven by a 78-year-old man was traveling southbound when he collided with the westbound Union Pacific train.
The boy died in the collision. The girl was flown to Children’s Hospital in Dallas with critical injuries.
The bus driver was taken to a hospital by ambulance and was said to be in stable condition.
No other injuries were reported and the two students were the only ones on board at the time of the accident.
The authorities are investigating the crash.
