17 Hospitalized after Dayton Train Crash on County Road 621

Dayton, Texas (September 1, 2019) – Seventeen people were injured Friday afternoon in a traffic accident involving a train and a vehicle near Dayton, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred at about 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 30 at County Road 621.

The DPS said an Amtrak train was on the way from Los Angeles to New Orleans when it collided with a semi-truck. The train’s engine came partially off of the track as a result of the collision.

The driver of the semi-truck and 16 passengers of the train were injured in the collision. All 17 patients were taken to the local hospital for treatment.

No further details regarding the crash were immediately given.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
