17-Year-Old Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on I-45 in Ellis County

Teenager Killed in Ellis County Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 45 near Risinger Road

Ellis County, Texas (August 3, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was injured in a three-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Ellis County, outside of Ferris, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash happened at about 4:40 a.m., July 1, on southbound Interstate 45 near Risinger Road.

According to a preliminary investigation, a silver 2003 Honda Civic was heading southbound on the freeway while a black 2015 Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on the southbound side of the freeway.

The Nissan then crashed head-on into the Honda. The Nissan stopped in the left lane after the crash, and it was struck by a southbound white Dodge Ram pickup truck.

The Honda driver, a 17-year-old Waxahachie female, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The Nissan driver, a 22-year-old Dallas woman, was airlifted to Methodist Charlton Medical Center with non- life-threatening injuries.

The Dodge driver was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
