Two Construction Workers Injured in Belton Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 14

Belton, Texas (February 2, 2023) – Two construction workers were struck by a vehicle last Thursday in Belton, according to the DPS.

The accident happened around 10:56 a.m., January 26, on Interstate 14.

DPS said a construction crew was breaking down a construction zone in the inside lane of the interstate with marked orange cones to reopen the interstate.

A 2012 Toyota SUV, driven by a 28-year-old Temple woman, was heading westbound in the inside lane, approaching the crew. The woman failed to control her speed and took evasive action to avoid colliding with the work truck, which had the illuminated right arrow activated. She entered the work zone and collided with two construction workers, a 36-year-old woman, and a 26-year-old man.

The construction workers were taken to Baylor Scott and White in Temple with incapacitating injuries.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
