Two Deputies Injured and Prisoner Killed in Harris County Crash on Westpark Tollway

Harris County, Texas (July 22, 2019) – Two deputies were injured and a prisoner was killed in a wrong-way crash Sunday night in Harris County, according to the authorities.

The crash happened on July 21, along the Westpark Tollway.

Authorities said Patrick Njogu, 39, was driving the wrong way when he slammed into the deputies’ patrol cruiser.

The two deputies and a detained suspect were heading to jail when the crash occurred. They were all wearing seatbelts.

The prisoner was taken to the hospital where they later died.

Both deputies were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Njogu suffered a broken leg. He has five previous DWI arrests and three previous convictions in other states. He faces a murder charge.

An investigation is ongoing.
