Two Hospitalized after Axtell Two-Vehicle Crash at State Highway 31 and Farm-to-Market Road 2311
Axtell, Texas (April 30, 2019) – Two drivers were critically injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon near Axtell, according to a local news release.
The crash was reported at about 4:30 p.m. April 29, in the area of State Highway 31 and Farm-to-Market Road 2311.
According to a preliminary investigation, a Nissan pickup truck was heading southbound on FM 2311 and entered the intersection without properly stopping at the red light. The Nissan was then hit by the Ford pickup truck which was heading eastbound on State Highway 31.
The impact ejected the Nissan driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital in critical condition.  The Nissan driver had to be airlifted. They were the sole occupants of their cars.
The vehicles sustained heavy damage in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
