Two HPD Officers Injured in Houston Three-Vehicle Crash on Southwest Freeway near Beechnut; Juan Dominguez Arrested

Houston, Texas (May 2, 2022) – Two Houston police officers were injured early Sunday morning in a crash involving a DWI suspect in Houston, according to the police.

The crash happened around 5:00 a.m., on the Southwest Freeway near Beechnut.

Police said a red Ram 1500 truck reportedly ran out of gas on the right shoulder, and wreckers were called to the scene to help get the truck off the highway. A red Ford Focus driven by Juan Dominguez, 39, then rear-ended an HPD patrol car that had responded to the scene.

The stalled truck was pushed towards the top of the wrecker bed.

The two officers in the patrol car were taken to Memorial Hermann in Texas Medical Center, where one of them had suffered a concussion.

Both the truck driver and the wrecker driver were uninjured in the crash.

Dominguez was evaluated at a local hospital and was later charged with DWI.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
