Two Killed, One Injured in Navarro County Crash on State Highway 85 near FM1126

Navarro County, Texas (June 16, 2022) – Two people were killed and another was injured Wednesday morning in a fiery wrong-way crash in Navarro County, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

At around 5:15 a.m. 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, troopers responded to State Highway 85, approximately one and a half miles west of FM1126, to investigate the report of a two-vehicle accident.

According to the DPS report, a Nissan passenger vehicle was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 85 when it collided head-on with an oncoming Volkswagen passenger vehicle.

The Nissan caught fire upon the impact.

The driver and passenger of the Nissan were declared dead at the scene. Their names have not been released pending notification of their respective families.

The driver of the Volkswagen sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Parkland Hospital. Their current condition is unknown.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
