Two Killed in Orange County Motorcycle Crash at FM 105 and Lakeview Cutoff

Orange County, Texas (December 6, 2020) – Two people were killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday night in Orange County, according to troopers.

The deadly crash happened around 7:00 p.m., December 5, at the intersection of FM 105 and Lakeview Cutoff.

Troopers said a 2002 Honda motorcycle was traveling southbound on FM 105 when a northbound 2012 Toyota SUV stopped to turn left.

The SUV driver failed to yield the right of way while turning, and the motorcycle crashed into the SUV.

The motorcycle rider was trapped under the SUV while the passenger was ejected.

The rider, a 48-year-old Spurger man, and the passenger, a 40-year-old Lumberton woman, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV driver, a 75-year-old Vidor woman, and her passenger were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash closed all lanes of FM 105. They have since been reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases, the accident results in death.
