Two Killed in Houston Wrong-Way Crash on Westpark Tollway near Fondren

Houston, Texas (January 8, 2022) – Two people were killed Saturday morning in a wrong-way crash in Houston, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 4:49 a.m., on the Westpark Tollway eastbound near Fondren.

Authorities said a Chevy Equinox was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the tollway when it crashed head-on into a private ambulance, which was not transporting any patients.

One person in each vehicle was killed in the crash.

Another person in the Equinox was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Another person in the ambulance was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The crash closed a portion of the tollway for several hours.

No other details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
