2 Dead in Gainesville Plane Crash near Gainesville Airport

Gainesville, Texas (July 29, 2019) – Two people were killed when a twin-engine plane crashed Sunday evening near the Gainesville airport, according to authorities.

The fatal crash occurred just after 4:00 Sunday, July 28 at Gainesville Municipal Airport.

Authorities said the Piper PA-34 was preparing to land at Gainesville Municipal Airport when for undetermined reasons, it crashed about a quarter-mile from the runway.

Two people were on board the plane. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another person was transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where they later succumbed to their injuries.

Their names have not been disclosed pending notification of family.

The crash remains under investigation.
