Two Women Hospitalized after Van Alstyne Collision at Highway 75 and Van Alstyne Parkway; Katherine Jones Arrested For DUI

Van Alstyne, Texas (July 23, 2022) – Two women were sent to a hospital following an alleged DUI crash in Van Alstyne on Wednesday evening, according to Van Alstyne Police.

The fiery collision happened at about 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at the intersection of Highway 75 and Van Alstyne Parkway.

Police said 54-year-old Katherine Jones was driving her vehicle in the area when she crashed into the rear end of another car at the intersection.

The impact knocked the car off the road and crashed down the embankment. The two women and children were able to exit the vehicle before it went on fire.

The women were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. The children were checked out and released at the scene.

Jones was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and four counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Further details regarding the crash were not immediately provided.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
