Two Woman Injured in San Antonio Car Crash on Sky Harbor; Jesus Alberto Luna Arrested

San Antonio, Texas (December 16, 2020) – The man who was involved in a hit-and-run crash that left two women injured in October has been arrested, according to police.

Jesus Alberto Luna was arrested this week and was booked on Tuesday, December 15.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m., October 10, in the 8800 block of Sky Harbor.

Police said a 2007 Mazda CX was traveling southbound when a vehicle behind it slowed to turn left into a driveway.

Luna was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound when he drove around the turning vehicle to avoid hitting it and drove into oncoming traffic.

The Tahoe struck the CX on the driver’s side, causing it to spin and roll into a yard.

Luna then backed up and attempted to flee the scene but struck the CX for a second time.

A passenger in the CX was taken to a local hospital with neck and back pain. The CX driver went to the hospital the following morning.

Officers later received a call and responded to Luna’s home. Luna appeared to be intoxicated, had urinated on himself, and refused to exit the home. He taunted the officers as they attempted to arrest him. He was eventually arrested for a municipal court warrant. He has been charged with two counts of failure to stop and render aid.

The crash remains under investigation.

In Texas, a driver is legally intoxicated after consuming alcohol if their blood alcohol content (BAC) is .08% or higher. A driver is also considered intoxicated if they don’t have the normal use of their mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol. Alcohol however is not the only intoxicant, as drivers can become intoxicated by ingesting prescription and illegal drugs such as crack, marijuana, and cocaine.

Regardless of what substance caused the driver’s reaction time to become significantly altered, intoxication by any means can cause terrible accidents and injuries.

Innocent victims harmed by drunk drivers are entitled to compensation for their injuries, including but not limited to medical expenses; lost wages; pain and suffering and mental anguish; physical impairment and disability; and most importantly, punitive damages to deter future conduct.

If you have been injured because of a drunk driver, you will want a knowledgeable accident lawyer to bring a  personal injury action against the drunk driver.
