Dozens Hospitalized After Spring Chemical Leak at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown
Spring, Texas (July 18, 2021) – Several people were hospitalized on Saturday following a chemical leak at a Spring water park, according to the authorities.
The incident happened on July 17, at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown.
Authorities said a chemical leak occurred at the park, and they are still investigating the cause. The chemicals involved included hypochlorite solution and 35% sulfuric acid.
Twenty-nine people were taken to local hospitals with minor skin irritation and respiratory issues.
Thirty-nine other people declined to be taken to the hospital after undergoing decontamination procedures.
The park was closed following the incident, which is still under investigation.
