Three Killed and Three Critically Injured in Lee County Three-Vehicle Crash on Highway 77

Lee County, Texas (June 6, 2019) – Three children were killed and three other people were critically injured Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Lee County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened at about 3:45 p.m. June 5, on Highway 77, south of Giddings.

DPS said a car was heading northbound on the highway when the driver attempted to avoid hitting a jackknifed 18-wheeler and ended up hitting another semi-truck behind the jackknifed truck.

Three of the five children in the car were killed in the crash. Two other children and an adult in the car were taken to an Austin hospital in critical condition.

The roadway was wet at the time of the crash, according to the troopers.

The crash remains under investigation.
