Three Children Killed, Roland Mullins and Sheryl Harrell Injured in Terry County Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 62/385

Terry County, Texas (May 3, 2022) – Three children were killed, and two other people were injured Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash in Terry County, southwest of Wellman, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 5:12 p.m., May 1, on Highway 62/385.

DPS said Roland W. Mullins, 35, of Hobbs, New Mexico, was driving along the highway when he crossed an area of standing water, and the vehicle hydroplaned, spun and went into the center median. The vehicle went into the oncoming lanes of traffic and collided with an SUV driven by Sheryl Shanae Harrell, 45, of Brownfield.

An 11-year-old girl, a 9-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy were killed in the crash. They were all wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Mullins and Harrell sustained minor injuries in the crash.

It was raining at the time of the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
