Waller County, Texas (September 26, 2021) – Four people were injured Saturday morning in a bicycle accident in Waller County, according to the deputies.

The accident happened on September 25, on US-290 BUS.

Deputies said six bicyclists were heading eastbound on the highway when they were hit by a vehicle.

Two of the bicyclists were airlifted to a Houston hospital, where one of them was treated for head trauma. Two other bicyclists were taken to a Waller hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other two bicyclists refused treatment at the scene.

The condition of the vehicle’s driver was not disclosed.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

With the surge in popularity of alternate transportation to save on fuel costs, bicycling has emerged as a new form of mobility forced to compete with motorized traffic in dangerous situations. This has resulted in many more accidents between human-powered vehicles and powerful engine-driven machines, producing tragic injuries as well as countless fatalities.
