Four Injured in Odessa Two-Vehicle Crash on Faudree Road; Eliana Leyba Charged

Odessa, Texas (December 14, 2020) – Four people were injured in a head-on collision Sunday night in Odessa, according to police.

The crash happened around 8:20 p.m., December 13, in the 6800 block of Faudree Road.

Police said a Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Eliana Leyba, 25, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it crashed head-on into a Ford F-150.

Leyba and the three people in the Ford were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Leyba has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a Class B Misdemeanor, Reckless Driving, a Class B Misdemeanor, and was cited for No Proof of Insurance.

The crash remains under investigation.

In Texas, a driver is legally intoxicated after consuming alcohol if their blood alcohol content (BAC) is .08% or higher. A driver is also considered intoxicated if they don’t have the normal use of their mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol. Alcohol however is not the only intoxicant, as drivers can become intoxicated by ingesting prescription and illegal drugs such as crack, marijuana, and cocaine.

Regardless of what substance caused the driver’s reaction time to become significantly altered, intoxication by any means can cause terrible accidents and injuries.
