Four Killed in Orange County Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10

Orange County, Texas (December 10, 2020) – Four people were killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler in Orange County, according to authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 11:15 a.m., December 9, on Interstate 10, near FM 1136.

According to a preliminary investigation, an 18-wheeler was traveling westbound on the interstate when it stopped due to traffic congestion from an earlier crash.

The driver of a westbound SUV failed to control his speed and rear-ended the stopped 18-wheeler.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as a 50-year-old man from Fort Myers, Florida.

The front-seat passenger in the SUV, a 29-year-old Fort Myers woman, was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Another passenger in the SUV, a 63-year-old Fort Myers woman, was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

One of the women was pregnant, and the medical staff worked to deliver and save her child, but the baby didn’t survive.

The 18-wheeler driver, a Virginia resident, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
