Five Injured in Ector County Six-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20

Ector County, Texas (September 20, 2022) – Five people were injured Monday afternoon in a six-vehicle crash in Ector County, according to the DPS.

The crash happened around 4:50 p.m., September 19, on Interstate 20 near the 104-mile marker.

DPS said a truck tractor was traveling eastbound on the interstate when it rear-ended an eastbound vehicle. The truck tractor then veered into the westbound lanes, where it crashed into a westbound vehicle, causing a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles.

Five people were taken to Medical Center Hospital, where two of them were listed in critical condition.

The crash closed both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the interstate for several hours.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
