5 Killed in Head-On Crash on US-59 in Wharton County

Five Killed in Wharton County Two-Vehicle Crash on US-59

Wharton County, Texas (November 29, 2020) – Five people, including a child, were killed in a head-on collision Sunday morning in Wharton County, according to police.

The fatal crash happened around 3:56 a.m., November 28, on US-59, near the FM 961 and Highway 60 exit.

Police said a black Cadillac SUV was traveling southbound near the exit when it veered off the main lanes and drove through a grassy median. It then entered the northbound lanes and crashed head-on into an oncoming Nissan Altima.

The Cadillac driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three adults and a 2 and a half-year-old child in the Nissan were also killed in the crash.

A 6-month-old baby was airlifted to the hospital in an unknown condition.

The police are investigating the crash.
