70-Year-Old Woman Killed in San Marcos Two-Vehicle Crash on I-35 at Blanco River Exit

San Marcos, Texas (August 14, 2020) – A 70-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Thursday morning in San Marcos, according to officials.

The fatal crash happened around 2:00 a.m., August 13, on I-35 southbound at the Blanco River exit.

Police said a white 2009 Dodge Journey was traveling in the far-right lane behind a red 2016 Volvo semi-tractor trailer with a tandem trailer. The Dodge driver changed lanes to avoid a vehicle approaching from behind and rear-ended the Volvo.

A female passenger in the Dodge was taken to Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle, where she was pronounced dead.

The Dodge driver was cited for not having a driver’s license, no insurance, and failure to control speed.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
