8-Year-Old Dead, Woman Injured in Crash with Garbage Truck on U.S. Hwy 83 in Rio Grande City

8-Year-Old Girl Killed, 34-Year-Old Woman Injured in Rio Grande City Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 83

Rio Grande City, Texas (February 8, 2020) – An 8-year-old girl was killed, and a 34-year-old woman was injured in a rear-end collision early Saturday morning in Rio Grande City, according to the authorities.

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 83.

Authorities said the woman was driving a black Nissan SUV when she rear-ended a garbage truck.

The woman and the 8-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the SUV, were taken to Starr County Memorial Hospital, where the girl later died.

The woman’s condition was not disclosed.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
