8-Year-Old Dies in Car Crash on St. Joseph Parkway in Houston

8-Year-Old Killed in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on St. Joseph Parkway at Chartres Street

Houston, Texas (October 4, 2021) – According to the police, the 8-year-old who was critically injured Friday night in a two-vehicle crash in downtown Houston has died.

The crash happened around 10:35 p.m., October 1, in the 1800 block of St. Joseph Parkway at the intersection of Chartres Street.

Police said a 25-year-old was driving a black Dodge Challenger northbound on Chartres Street when they ran a red light at the intersection and struck a silver Honda Civic.

The 8-year-old was a passenger in the Honda. They were taken to the hospital with critical injuries, including a skull fracture, where they succumbed to their injuries on Sunday morning.

The Honda driver and another passenger were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. They were identified as the child’s parents.

The Dodge driver was uninjured in the crash. They remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. They were not intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
