8-Year-Old Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 41 near Ropesville
Child Killed, Rhett Green Injured in Ropesville Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 41 near FM 179
Ropesville, Texas (January 3, 2020) – An 8-year-old boy was killed, and his father was injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning near Ropesville, according to the DPS.
The crash happened at about 8:20 a.m. January 2, on FM 41, just west of FM 179.
Troopers said a Ford Pickup driven by Rhett Green, 35, of Lubbock, was heading westbound while a semi was stopped in the westbound lanes with its hazard lights on. The semi driver was lost and had stopped to find directions.
Green didn’t realize the semi was stopped and crashed into the left rear of the semi.
Green’s 8-year-old son, who was a passenger in the pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Green was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
The driver of the semi was uninjured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
