9 Seriously Injured after T-Bone Crash on Barton Springs Road in Austin

Nine People Hospitalized after Austin Crash on Barton Springs Road

Austin, Texas (April 16, 2022) – Nine people were seriously injured after a T-bone crash sent one of the vehicles colliding into a food truck and several pedestrians last week Friday in South Austin, according to Austin Police.

The crash occurred at about 8:18 p.m. on April 8 in the 1800 Barton Springs Road.

Authorities said a white pickup truck was allegedly speeding down Barton Springs when it T-boned a silver car that was coming across the road.

Due to the impact, the car crashed into a group of pedestrians gathered at an ice cream food truck along Barton Springs Road.

A total of eleven adults were involved in the crash. Nine of them, including one driver, were taken to either South Austin Medical Center or Dell Seton Medical Center, two with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries, and seven people with non-life-threatening injuries. The other two declined hospitalization.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.

A GoFundMe account has been created to help all victims of the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
