90-Year-Old Woman Killed in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Middlebrook Drive at Hickory Knoll Drive

Houston, Texas (April 12, 2022) – A 90-year-old woman was killed Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Houston, according to the police.

The deadly accident occurred around 12:35 p.m., April 8, in the 16500 block of Middlebrook Drive at the intersection of Hickory Knoll Drive.

Police said a white Kia Optima was traveling southbound when a gray Chevrolet Impala failed to yield the right of way and turned left from Middlebrook Drive onto Hickory Knoll Drive. The Kia then rear-ended the Impala, causing the Impala to spin and leave the roadway.

A passenger in the Impala was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released.

The Impala driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The male driver of the Kia and his passenger were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Both drivers were not impaired at the time of the crash. Officers believe the Kia driver might have been driving at a high rate of speed.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A.
