Elide Yvonna Garcia and Jose Luis Wences Killed in El Paso Two-Vehicle Crash on Loop 375
El Paso, Texas (December 9, 2019) – Two people were killed in a head-on collision Saturday night in El Paso, according to the police.
The fatal crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. on December 7, on Loop 375 west (Border Highway) near Bowie High School.
Police said Juan Martinez, 73, of El Paso, was driving a 1999 Toyota 4Runner eastbound in the westbound lanes when he crashed head-on into a westbound 2017 Toyota Corolla driven by Elide Yvonna Garcia, 25, of Las Cruces.
Garcia was taken to the hospital, where she later died. Her 6-year-old Jose Luis Wences was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Corolla, 29-year-old Alberto Cuellar, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Martinez was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He has been charged with two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter.
The crash closed Loop 375 west near Bowie for several hours.
The police are investigating the crash.
