Randolph Clifton and Arlena Martell Seriously Injured in West Lubbock Two-Vehicle Crash on Marsha Sharp Freeway Overpass near West Loop 289

Lubbock, Texas (June 5, 2020) – Two people were seriously injured early Thursday morning in a head-on collision in West Lubbock, according to police.

The crash occurred around 8:08 a.m., June 4, in the Marsha Sharp Freeway overpass near West Loop 289.

Police said a Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the freeway when it crashed head-on into a Nissan Sonata.

The Marquis driver, 92-year-old Randolph Clifton, and the Sonata driver, 26-year-old Arlena Martell, were taken to UMC with serious injuries.

A 4-year-old passenger in the Sonata was uninjured in the crash.

The Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
