Odilon Alvarado Seriously Injured in Orange County on Interstate 10 near State Highway 87

Orange County, Texas (June 19, 2018) – A person was injured in a multi-vehicle collision in Orange County Saturday evening, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The collision was reported at around 9:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16 on Interstate 10, near State Highway 87.
According to reports, a 2013 Freightliner box truck was traveling eastbound in the inside traffic lane on Interstate 10 while a 2005 Ford pickup truck was heading eastbound in the outside traffic lane on Interstate.
For an unknown reason, the driver of the Ford pickup truck failed to drive in a single lane and hit the outside concrete wall. The driver then drifted left and struck the right quarter panel of the Freightliner.
This impact caused the Ford to hit the outside concrete wall again and the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The Ford pickup truck then traveled back into the path of the Freightliner and was hit in the driver-side door.
The Ford driver, Odilon Alvarado, 48, of Louisiana, was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries. Alvarado was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver and passenger of the Freightliner were unhurt.
Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash.
