Maria Guerrero Killed in Pleasant Grove Hit-and-Run Crash at Jim Miller Road and Bruton Road; Billy Williamson Arrested

Pleasant Grove, Texas – A woman was killed and a man was arrested early Wednesday morning following a hit-and-run crash in Pleasant Grove, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened on January 24, in the area of Jim Miller Road and Bruton Road.

Police said Billy Ray Williamson, 26, of Dallas, was driving an SUV northbound on Jim Miller Road at a high rate of speed when his vehicle struck a curb and a signal pole, spun across Burton Road, overturned, and struck a Toyota Corolla, which was waiting at a red light.

The Toyota driver, Maria Guerrero, 42, was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Williamson fled the scene.

About five hours after the crash, police received a 911 call from a gas station about three miles away from the crash scene from a man who claimed he had been robbed at gunpoint and his car had been stolen. Police found Williamson, whose clothing and injuries matched what witnesses had said about the person who ran from the scene. He was not wearing shoes. A rubber boot was found wedged under the driver’s side dashboard of the SUV. He was arrested and is facing a charge of collision involving death in connection to the crash and is being held at the Dallas County Jail on $50,000 bond.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A.
