Cody Shelton Killed in Austin Pedestrian Accident at East Seventh Street and Red River Street; Tyrone Thompson Arrested

Austin, Texas – According to the police, one person was killed and another was injured early Tuesday morning in a hit-and-run accident in downtown Austin.

The deadly accident happened around 1:09 a.m., March 12, at the intersection of East Seventh Street and Red River Street.

Police said two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle at the intersection.

One of the pedestrians, 26-year-old Cody Jordan Shelton, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The second pedestrian was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle, 23-year-old Tyrone Thompson, fled the scene.

Thompson was involved in another crash on Tuesday morning elsewhere in Travis County and was arrested on unrelated charges. He was charged with Crash Involving Death charges.
