Tyler County, Texas – One person was killed and two others were injured on Sunday in a head-on collision in Tyler County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 7:00 a.m., May 5, on US Highway 190, just east of the Polk County line.

DPS said a Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling eastbound while a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling westbound. The Peterbilt tried to pass multiple vehicles and crashed head-on into the Volkswagen.

The Peterbilt driver, 35-year-old Jesse Alan Budine, of Humble, was uninjured in the crash.

The Volkswagen driver, 40-year-old Chad Hare of Jamesville, was transported to Kingwood Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

An 11-month-old child in the Volkswagen was also transported to Kingwood Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The front passenger of the Volkswagen, 36-year-old Roselyn Jimenez of Springs, Fl., was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
