Ross Moore Killed, Todd Smith Hospitalized after Decatur Two-Vehicle Crash on Farm Road 51 near County Road 3294
Decatur, Texas (October 7, 2018) – One driver was killed, and another was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in a head-on collision near Decatur, according to a local news release.
The fatal crash took place at around 2:00 p.m. October 3, on Farm Road 51 near County Road 3294, just north of Farm Road 3259.
DPS officials said Ross Steven Moore, 25, of Decatur, was driving a 2002 Buick passenger car southbound on FM 51 when for unknown reasons the vehicle veered into the northbound lane where it collided head-on with a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Todd A. Smith, 41, of Paradise.
The impact caused the pickup to roll over and land upside down.
Both vehicles acquired extensive damage in the crash.
Moore died at the scene.
Smith was extracted by emergency crews and transported to Medical City Denton with serious injuries.
The authorities closed both lanes of FM 51 for about two and a half hours as they investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
