Preliminary investigation revealed that the Jeep was parked on the shoulder of the northbound roadway and then was rear-ended by the Ram 3500

Howard County, Texas — One person was killed following a two-vehicle rear-end collision on US 87 in Howard County Thursday night, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The deadly crash happened at about 9:22 PM on July 25 on US 87 near Mile Marker 374.
According to the Texas DPS, a 2015 Ram 3500, operated by Jason Earnest Key, 41, of Big Spring, and a 2018 Jeep, driven by Jose Gonzales, 64, of Ackerley, were involved in the incident.

Jose Gonzales was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Texas DPS.
Jason Key was not injured in the crash. He was arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter and is currently in custody at the Howard County Jail, authorities said. No further information regarding the incident was provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
