Lubbock, Texas – A 40-year-old motorcycle rider died Sunday night after colliding with an SUV at an intersection in Lubbock, according to a police report.

Reportedly, the deadly accident happened just after 9:15 p.m. on July 29 at 82nd Street and Fremont Avenue.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and found a motorcyclist, identified as 40-year-old Juan Rios Jr. with serious injuries.

Rios was transported to University Medical Center, where he was declared dead.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Rios was riding eastbound in the 3100 block of 82nd Street when he collided with an SUV at the intersection. Investigators said the SUV was traveling westbound on 82nd Street before turning south onto Freemont Avenue leading to the collision.

No additional details regarding the crash were provided.

The incident remains under investigation.
