Dallas, TX – A 20-year-old woman who was hit and critically injured by a Dallas police squad car on Monday evening is dead, according to Dallas police.

Aresly Jaramillo, who was struck by the police car about 7 p.m. on August 5 in the 8700 block of Elam Road, died at a hospital Tuesday.

Authorities say Jaramillo was hit by a Dallas police squad car while she was trying to cross a road. Monday night.

A preliminary investigation revealed a Dallas police officer in a marked squad car was responding to a call and was driving eastbound on Elam Road.  The car’s emergency lights and siren were not activated.

Jaramillo, who had been standing in the median, ran across the street in front of two vehicles that were trying to turn left onto Cedarcliff Drive.

Police say Jaramillo ran into the far-left lane where she was hit by the squad car, authorities said.

The involved officer stopped to give Jaramillo first aid before she was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.

Unfortunately, Jaramillo succumbed to her injuries Tuesday morning, according to Dallas Police.

The incident remains under investigation.
