Houston, TX – A 69-year-old man who was injured following a three-vehicle accident on Interstate Highway 59 in Houston is dead, according to the Houston Police Department.

The accident happened at about 2:30 a.m. on June 18 at 9600 Southwest Freeway.

According to HPD, a preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a black Acura RDX was heading northeast on Highway 59 when she hit a red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck pulling a trailer.

The impact pushed Toyota’s trailer into another lane where it was hit by the driver of a grey Freightliner tractor-trailer truck.

The driver of the Toyota, identified only as a 69-year-old man, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he remained hospitalized until August 9 when he succumbed to the injured and the doctors pronounced him dead.

Authorities say the driver of the Acura, identified as 33-year-old Jessica Luty, was determined to be intoxicated. Luty was arrested at the scene and was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.
